Clothilde Rey
Digital Artist and Illustrator
Character Art – Fantasy – Sci-fi – History

I’m Clothilde (or Clor on the internet!), a digital artist and illustrator from south-eastern France. A philosopher by training, I use painting to explore concepts, symbols, and emotions. My illustrations contain many characters and creatures, all of which seem to be the most relevant to explore what I am most interested in: human sensitivity. Because they resemble us (at least somewhat!), they trigger a process of identification between us and them, a connection that can then be exploited to create various effects.
I like exploring the notions of strangeness, surrealism, or monstrosity to arouse fear, wonder, or curiosity. As a result, fantastic or futuristic imaginary worlds, folk tales, and occult stories are highly valuable sources of inspiration for me.
From a technical point of view, my work revolves around a strong use of colors and textures to try and give a rough and tangible aspect to my digital paintings.
